Hear Persephone’s birds
piping her joy
at having returned to
play in the sun.
Caressing each blade
of grass she bestows
more intimacy than
Hades ever knew in
his death’s dominion.
What new hell he may
devise come autumn
is far, far from her
springing thoughts.
